Tires 275/70/22.5

Thinking of purchasing a class A it needs new tires 275/70/22.5 what kind of mileage can you generally get out of these expensive tires?

  • Unless you abuse them by overloading, running wrong air pressure, or bad alignment; you will replace them due to age not miles. The Mfg says begin inspecting them regularly after 5, 6 or 7 years; but replace them after 10 yrs regardless of their condition. I got the max 10 yrs out of my last set and they still looked like new with 40,000 miles.
My 6 new Michilens of that same size cost $3300 with tax & installation, using the FMCA discount.

I run Michelin XRV and I got 10 years out of my last set! Good Luck in whatever you buy!

X2 on the XRV tires, just changed ours due to Michelin's age rule of 10 years. There was no cracking, rubber is still pliable. If it wasn't due to age out,we would of kept them on.
Bought ours through the FMCA Michelin tire program: 498. each plus mounting

  • We have 60,000 miles in 5 years on our BF Goodrich ST230's Load range H. Showing a little wear. We plan on replacing them next year for age, not for mileage. The tire guy in TX where we bought them said 7 years but we don't want to push it that long. We paid about $3400 for 6 tires out the door in 2010.
  • 40,000 miles and seven years. Most will be replaced for time, not for distance. If you make 100,000 miles per year, you will replace tires, but I am not the right authority on that question.
  • If you take good care of them, you'll get 7-8 years of use before the tire companies recommend that you replace them due to age. Typically, you won't put enough miles on them to wear them out before they age out.

Hankook makes a great tire in that size (AH12). They're about $350- $400 installed vs the Goodyears or Michellins at $600+.
