Tires for a 2000 Monaco Diplomat 38A

I am looking at purchasing this Monaco, and before I negotiate or look at the tires I want to know replacement cost. I know it has 22.5 inch wheels but not sure of the other sizes. My father runs Michelin tires and is very happy. Any recommendations?
  • My 275/70/22.5 michelin tires purchased through the FMCA program cost $510 each plus mount and balance.
  • My 1999 Monaco Diplomat 38' has 255/70/22.5.

I am putting tires on (6) in the very near future (couple of weeks)and will probably go with Hankook tires.

The best price I have found online is from simpletire (know nothing about them yet) $1893.46 including FET and shipping.
  • Thank you! I have a FMCA membership I will see if any dealers here honor that program. The prices I'm getting here are like $646.99 per tire out the door, for Michelin XCE 255/70R 22.5.
  • Under the FMCA plan, the dealer doesn't know the price of the tires. To find this out, you need to contact the FMCA office or their web site. I just replaced 6 XZA's on my coach. According to the dealer, my price for the tires was lower than his cost! I just paid the dealer for mounting, and putting Equal in the front tires for balancing. Michelin charged my credit card for the tires.

There are very specific steps that you need to take for the FMCA plan. And, you will need to find a truck tire shop that participates in the Michelin Advantage program. I found a shop just 2 miles from my house.

By the way, I have heard, but haven't confirmed, that the FMCA plan has been expanded to include automobile tires and small truck tires. Does anyone know if this is true?
  • Go through the formal steps like Waynelee said. From my experience many dealers will tell you they participate in the michelin program when in fact they do not. They will also tell you they can match it and they cannot. Not even all truck tire dealers that sell michelin tires can match and or participate. It must be an approved dealer and as has been said you only pay the dealer for mounting and balance. Michelin charges you card that you have to preregister with michelin.
  • I just purchased 6 275s Michelin xza2 energy for my 2002 diplomat through fmca. Fmca price was 498 each and about 120 ea for taxes balance mount disposal. Tires have a date of 14 16. The dealer I went through said inventory is low and long backlog on the xrv.
  • If you are even considering Goodyear, Google Goodyear Florida Lawsuit and then ask yourself why you would want to spend a dime with Goodyear. In my experience Goodyears are junk and Michelin or Hankook are both very good.
