Dometic power awning electric motor assembly replaced. Awning runs great. We're back on the road!

You are correct - the serial numbers are in the closet, but I was at work at the time I read about the recall, and unfortunately my office isn't in my MH. Our awning is not affected by the recall.

The Dealership has received the recall kit and I have an appointment to replace the defective components next week.

I called the phone number and obtained more information. My MH may be affected. The serial numbers of the affected units start with 306XXXX and go through 314XXXX. If your awning is included on the recall list they dispatch a mobile repair unit to come to the camper to replace the assembly.

I am not at home to check the number on mine, but I will do so when I go home!

My Dealership Parts Department has ordered the recall kit and advised it should be received within a week. More to follow...

It has to do with the internal mechanism of the motor and gear drive. It can unfurl at any time without notice or while being extended or retracted.

The notice I received states the defective awning motors were produced between February & April of this year.
