With our setup towing 4 wheels on the ground, with two people involved, we can unhook and drive off in the tow vehicle in 45 seconds. It takes 4 minutes to re-hook because of the safety stuff, making sure it's all done right. I cannot imagine a tow dolly being as quick or convenient, or as safe. Then at camp sites, having that 3rd piece of hardware is hard to deal with. Also consider the hassle storing it at home and plating it.
I would sooner replace the tow vehicle than to take it around on a tow dolly. RVing with anything in back is enough work as it is. The easier the better, the faster the better, the safer the better. The idea of holding the tow vehicle on a tow dolly with tire straps makes me very uncomfortable. For a one time vehicle transport is one thing, but on a vacation? It's not for me.
BTW: I always take the time and type 4 Wheels Down and Tow Dolly as not to confuse the reader. I live in an acronym world at work and it makes me nuts. If I'm sharing anything on a forum, it's worth being clear about it..... :)
