I would NOT use a diode between the batteries. You loose around .7 VDC across a diode-- enough to make charging marginal at best.
Install a fuse at each battery. And, if desired, use a RELAY with ignition signal if you only want the charge wire hot when the coach engine is on.
Totally agree with this. There is absolutely no need for a diode in this application and the fuses are a good idea.
