There is some kind of electric eye that senses vehicle height and dispenses the ticket out of either the high or low dispenser. I had the same problem towing the trailer, it saw the height of the trailer, thought I was a semi, and dispensed the ticket high up...where I couldn't reach it without opening the door of the Suburban.
We have always had EZ Pass, but this was on the OH turnpike years ago and they were not accepting EZ Pass yet, your only choice was to get a ticket.
