I'm not an expert at all on this. Looking forward to the answer. I was an aircraft mechanic for five years. From that I know that cracks can be caused by two different metals expanding and contracting under heat and cool down. That would be my concern with welding. But, I also know that people weld exhaust manifolds all the time. Now might be a good time to run a bead across that crack. Probably needs to be a nice smooth, even bead to it expands and contracts in a uniform manner. If it's not I would grind it smooth.
