Well I have started one more rebuild now, Although it is not a RV I will use this when we go camping, I have had this Jimmy for about 4 1/2 years it has 112060 miles on it and runs great, I bought it with the transmission leaking fluid out from the front, It will shift through 3 gears but would not go into OD After sitting for 4 years without being started the fuel pump has gone also, I poured gas into the throttle body and it started right up and No smoke whatsoever It still runs great, So I will clean it up put the fuel pump in and rebuild the transmission on this 1997 GMC Jimmy.
For a minute I had to do a double take to make sure you had not snagged my Jimmy! LOL...
On mine I bought a universal tow bar from U-Haul. I removed the factory tow hooks from the Jimmy. I cut the hook part off the hooks and welded the mountig bracket to the remaining hook studs. I re-installed my new towbar mounting brackets in the factory holes where the hooks used to be. My rig looks like it was factory designed. I bought a set of magentic tow/brake lights that plug into the RV and set on top of the Jimmy just aft of the roof rack. The whole project including the tow lights set me back about $150.00.
