Couple weeks ago the wife decided to go downtown. Not sure what happened but power went out and around an hour later she got home and her lift wouldn't work. I went out and tried using the crank to see if I could get her up but didn't work out too well.
A while back when they changed the drive belts they were supposed to fix the key that the crank fits into, thought they did that but no. can get the crank to go in but you can only turn it maybe a quarter turn before it slips off. Besides that they have the crank on the motor's pulley and you would have to turn it at least 10 times to get the bigger pulley to turn once and then it would lift the platform maybe 7-8" .
Thought she was going to have to sit outside until the power came back on. Few minutes later SHE suggested that maybe the generator would be able to run the lift, now whey didn't I think of that....
Started the generator and let it run a few minutes and I ran extension cords from the generator to the lift and presto up and in she went. I left the generator run and unhooked the lift but plugged in the heater and let it warm up the MH for about a half hr then shut it down. Wasn't sure if the generator would start as it was -10c over night and just below freezing when I tried starting it but it started good and ran good although with the cold the generator slide did not want to move that well. Supposed to be back up to just below freezing early next week so will start the gen again and run it for another while.
