Hey oldtrucker!! I'm going over and over this corner problem. I am leaning towards Square plastic gutter sold at Lowe's or Menard's using corners and angles provided. I don't know how I would fasten it other than long screws and possibly fender washers. I would pre-drill and use some kind of liquid or very pliable sealer to each screw hole against the motor-home itself.
Actual sealing of the unit has taken place, some water would be allowed under the new corner material. PVC pipe held and sliced into half on a table saw with a reversed blade. The PVC could be chosen in which ever Diameter would properly cover the edges of your repair.
PVC pipe probably would also offer the most versatile cornering as elbows can be bought in many degree angles. The more I think the more PVC seems to offer, choices of thickness, schedule 20, 30, 40, or even 80. I would go with 40 believing it would offer enough strength for draw down with screws, again knowing I was only improving the cosmetics as the actual sealing has taken place.
Maybe I would glue the PVC together in length with angles and couplers and use small straps at even spacing over the pipe. Straps would probably be made of 3/4 to one inch wide aluminum.
Good luck, and if all else fails dull the paint (flat, no shine) in the areas affected.
