I always have the DW to gently back up which snaps the lock into place. .
I do it the same way. Many times, one side will lock in and the other will not. If this happens, just get in the motorhome and turn the wheel sharply toward the side that is NOT locked in. Pull forward just a tiny bit...inches to a foot. That locks the other side in.
