I think that linked GMC bulletin said to unlock the steering and every single vehicle I know of says; unlock the steering, failure to do so will cause damage. Talk about scuff, locked steering will wear out a set of front tires in a couple hundred miles.
We tow a 2015 Ford F-150 4x4. It has an electronic neutral in the transfer case and an Air Force 1 brake with Blue Ox base plates and tow bar. Works great.
Just follow the procedure in the manual to switch it to flat tow, hook up the electric plug, emergency brake cable, breakaway cables and air line. Simple, easy no sweat.
I know it's not always possible, but have you thought about just trading the Yukon in on a Jeep Wrangler? If that works, they are super easy to flat tow. No wheel strapping, no ignition switch on or fuses to pull, easy to install the base plate (or just upgrade the whole front bumper into one that has the tow bar attachments built in already). Weight is much less than the Yukon (only about 4,200#) and that's for the 4-door Unlimited. We definitely love ours. Outfitted with the Invisibrake and you don't even know it's there!
The Monaco's towing capacity is 10,000 pounds. What you'll need to do to the Yukon will be determined by the owner's manual. Google will be your friend....Dennis
I believe that if the transfer case has a gear selection that includes NEUTRAL then it can be towed 4 down. If it has a steering wheel lock, and you want to eliminate it, it's not a big job.
