I have two trailers I tow. An enclosed trailer and an open utility trailer for the motorcycles and boats. They are both tall enough so I can just see the tops out the back window in my rear view mirror. I note where they are with respect to the window. I glance at them every few minutes. If it's leaning I know somethings up. I have my backup camera on only in reverse.

If you can see out your back window when you are driving you could attach something to the trailer, pole, stick, whatever, so you could see it in the rear window. That way you know both tires are full. It also can help when backing up as you can see it when trailer starts to turn.
On my enclosed trailer I have a piece of black tape now in the top center and a piece in the center of the window. I can see easily see in the rear view mirror if the trailer is going to the left or the right or lined up when backing up or level going down the road by looking at the tapes. On the open trailer there's a canoe or kayak in the center on the top to watch. Of course if you don't have a back window you can watch out of this won't work and you will need to get a backup camera.
