Toyo vs. Hankook tires

We're firm believers in Les Schwab service and pricing policies (and there's a store in town). We got six new Toyo's when we bought our MH -we'd only put 6K miles on them when we sold it. It still had the OEM Goodyear tires from the '01 chassis build date when we got it. The original spare was still on the spare wheel when we sold it. It looked like it had never been used.

I think both of those tires are good as with most its how you take care of them. Myself when my Michelins go I'm going to replace them with MasterCraft (made by cooper) I go off paved roads often and the MasterCraft is a very tough tire with a 50K mile warranty and a heavy side wall.

If the tires were not balanced it could cause the problem. Balance the tires with Equal. You will get a very smooth ride.

Could be imbalance, could be excessive run-out.

I would check run-out first. If over .035", FIX IT. Even a well balanced "egg" will..... ya, roll like an egg.

If run-out OK, then have it rebalanced-- best ON the vehicle. That way all rotating masses are in balance, not just tire and wheel.

Sorry to bump a old topic but I have a issue with the new tires on my MH. I put 6 Hankook on when my Goodyears became too old . Since replacing the tires I get a vibration in the front . It seems to be coming from the right front. I don't have the receipt on me so I can't offer the size but its a 38 foot freightliner FRED chassis. Could it be that the tires were not balanced properly ? any advice is appreciated . thanks

I put Hankooks on my previous MH and this one came with Toyo. I'm very pleased with both but I do think the Toyo's ride just a tad more harsh due to the stiffer sidewalls but still not objectionable...just hear/feel expansion joints a bit more.

I replaced Michelins with Sailun. Higher load rating at same pressure. Ride just as well as Michelins. Excellent price.

We replaced old tires with Toyo's from Les Schwab. They were affordable and we've put over 3000 miles on them. Seem to be working just fine.

Add to that: Toyo's have a tire manufacturing plant in Georgia also. The MH parked next to me in storage has six of them on his rig.

Knocking a tire brand because they are Japanese or Korean is simply foolish in this day and age. Does this mean we should knock a tire brand because it is made by a French company? Come to think of it maybe we should. I knew there was a reason I do not by Michelin's. :B :S
