Detent or 'passing gear' is activated by a sliding switch mounted on the throttle pedal frame under the dash. It send 12 volts to the spade connection on the side of the transmission to cause a down shift under certain engine speed. This switch is know to stick intermittently and prevent up shifts. Unplugging the wire @ the transmission is a quick fix until a new part can be sourced.
