Travel from Flagstaff to Kanab, Ut

On Wednesday I will be traveling from Flagstaff to Kanab, Ut in a 32ft motorhome. Which route will be the best, US89 thru Page or 89A thru Sedonia or perhaps some other route.
Thanks for all assistance.

Typo? Sedona is south of Flagstaff. Both routes are good but we usually take 89A. Since we really like the N Rim we've stayed at Jacob Lake and there is dry camping on the road to N Rim. If we can stay at the N Rim CG we're all in.

    He meant Fredonia, not Sedona

X2 on 89A to N Rim. Cannot find if you are pulling a toad but staying at J Lake USFS CG and driving to the N Rim is what we do and you do not need reservations to get in.
  • I live in Hurricane and take that route a lot. I prefer to NOT go the route through Jacob's Lake because of the twisty roads and almost having a head on with a truck going though the turns out of his lane. This happened in the car. If I would have been driving the coach, we would have had a head on crash. I now go from Flagstaff to Page and west to Kanab.

No wrong choices - Page will expose you to Lake Powell, which you might enjoy, but 89A will get you into the National Forest sooner, with the option of the North Rim.

After a short reflection, I'd suggest 89 through Page, little more leisurely drive, and after seeing the Lake you might enjoy a night there. Map to Camp Ground on the Lake

Not knowing what the "Plan" is, I'd also suggest thinking about getting out of the Heat and heading over to My Favorite - The San Juan's in Colorado - Cool Crisp Nights and Beautiful area to explore in the Summer.

So many options just never enough time.

    Best of Luck,

Worth considering but every road is a potential hazard. There are so many reports of wrong way drivers on interstates these days that it makes my head spin.
  • Through Page is a lot easier (less hills/curves) then using Jacob Lake.
