I’d go May-June too. Odds of a tornado getting you are much lower than they like to play up. Stay alert, and know where to take shelter just in case. Last time I camped in Kansas during tornado season, the bath houses at the campground were designated shelters, folks with pets in the ladies, petless folks in the men’s. Never needed it.
