Traveling late April
Doing a "try it" trip from Connecticut for a week. Any campgrounds open that early? Try it as in want to tour US, is an RV comfortable for a single retiree

Tulsa District COE campgrounds (Oklahoma and northern Texas) open April 1st, government funding permitting.
Most Oklahoma state parks are open year round. Many of our commercial RV parks are open year round, people actually snowbird here.
Campgrounds in northern Texas state parks tend to be open weekends in the winter, but as you get further south, they are open all week.
Mississippi state park campgrounds will be open in April, particularly from I-20 and south. This is also snowbirding territory.
I grew up in the Great Lakes region. Up there, I don't count on much of anything being open before the beginning of May, a lot of stuff doesn't open until Memorial Day weekend (which is already summer down here).
It is not so much about the weather, as it is about the availability of the volunteer (actually work-camper) help that makes these parks possible.
