I think this whole thing is getting hyped like the millennium was. I called a few days ago and got a campsite just north of Golds Beach. We didn't even consider the eclipse and just called. The only issue they had was getting me one of their limited 50 amp sites where my sat works. Otherwise, they had several sites available. The place isn't a dive either, the highest rated campground in the area.
You can see this from anywhere in the country, why would you run to one spot and bunch up. I think someone hyped it to make money and it will be a big fizzle.
you should research things before saying things that are untrue
u can not view the total eclipse from just anywhere
Just because your not interested in the eclipse does mean everyone else should also avoid such things
Yes, it is true you won't have totality everywhere but there is a huge swath across the USA that will have totality with a partial eclipse 100's of miles away from the path.
I have to say that I'm in the camp of not recognizing the hoopla of the eclipse. Now, I think gathering for just about anything is fun. Driving 100's and 100's of miles to see totality is just not my thing.
There is a nice size group of Prevost coaches (20 coaches) that have secured a school parking lot in Idaho for $10 a night right in the line of totality. I know they will all have a good time, especially, for those two minutes.
:p
Have fun and safe travels!
