Quite the diversity of opinions!
I'm liking the dream dinette retrofit idea + sleeping bags. Pull out the bed, drop the dinette, add sleeping bags and go. That could work.
I also thought about engineering my own couch to bunks conversion but may never get around to it:

Although bunks have been very convenient in this and our last 5er ... what I do have is time and maybe I'll run across a deal on what I (think) I want.
At any rate I need to run the family through a couple floor plans. We are fairly seasoned and it's a fun family experience to walk through RVs and see what fits and doesn't for us.
