How mountainous is hwy 89 north from I-40 to intersect with I-15 then to Salt Lake City.

US 89 and Alt US89 are both good. From Navajo Bridge to Jacob Lake is a bit of a climb and it drops even faster from Jacob Lake to Fredonia, AZ. Jacob Lake is USFS CG. A nice CG at Lees Ferry, Navajo Bridge. No hook ups at Lees Ferry or Jacob Lake.
