TRIP FROM FLA. TO MONTANA

Depends on what you consider free of snow and ice and where you are going. The interstates will probably be clear in late March, unless there is a late storm. The higher elevation roads probably not until late April. Some of the access roads to the national parks not until Mid May. The highest roads (Going to the Sun in Glacier, Beartooth Highway) Don't open fully until Memorial Day for the Beartooth and late June/Early July for Going to the Sun. Even then, open doesn't mean snow or Ice free. The smaller roads, who knows. I know of a couple of roads where winter doesn't surrender until August and returns in early September. You have to watch the weather and know there is no one size fits all for clear roads.
