Trip report

In view of a current thread in "Beginning RVing", I felt it might be a good idea to make a report on our last 700+ mile trip, with three adults and two dogs.
The chassis battery, which I had been watching, expecting failure, finally did fail. It has been replaced.
One of the tailgate latches on the ATV trailer broke, probably due to the rough detours on the highway construction areas. I haven't fixed it yet.
There are a LOT of bugs on the front of the coach. I need to wash it.
That's about it for bad things.
No tires blew out, nothing else bent or broke, nobody was injured or died, I did not get anywhere close to the fires, and having partial hookups instead of dry camping in the meadow was great!
As always, the coach handled the Continental Divide (Marias Pass) with ease. I do like that V10!

  • Maybe there is a Schwab in Billings. I don't know, Tire-Rama is closer, in fact it is the first tire store I see when heading into town.
I don't count Big R or Walmart or Tractor Supply as "tire stores".
  • I was under the impression that Les Schwab tire stores covered Idaho & Montana.
  • Well...what kind of a trip was that!! No problems? That's no fun.

We're in the last two days of a 3 week trip, about 2,500 miles with no problems yet. Almost unheard of for me.
  • Mowermech you are way too astute, yes I was being a bit of a jerk, enjoying your post and your subtle wit.
  • Schwab country?
No, Tire-Rama is where I bought the tires for my coach.
I sense a bit of sarcasm in mayo's post...
There is no CW in Montana.
  • Why would you recommend CW for tires? In Montana, he's in Schwab country and can get Toyos for much better prices than most other brands.

The RV we sold last December was also an '02 on the F53 chassis. Performance was excellent, particularly compared to our previous '85 Class C with a carburetor-equipped 460 V8. We didn't cross the Rockies in it, but did go over 5200 ft high Washington Pass on SR-20 a few times.

We didn't tow with it, and occupancy was two adults and two Labradors. We were well within the 22,000# max weight limit.

Welcome to the trip of a life time section.First of all did you hit the search button? You are sure over weight and that V10 should be ok if you don't blow a valve,But then you can contact Cummins because they do carry Ford parts. Is this your first trip?Stop by Camping World and get a Tune up while you are replacing those 10 year old tires.OK I am going to take some of my cheap Mexican medications now so my teeth quit hurting.Good one Mowermech.lol.
