Hi rgatijnet1 and all, What you're saying is its a gamble either way isn't it? But I never considered having a new coach that's under warrantee that you can't use 1000 miles from home. To have a motorhome is to travel and you're saying it doesn't apply out of town! What kind of a warranty is that or did I misunderstand what you said?
If your NEW coach, or a used coach for that matter, suffers a catastrophic failure 1000 miles away from home, what do you do? If it is new, you have it towed to the nearest facility that can repair it, but, and this is what I meant, who takes care of you and your family? The coach may be laid up for a month or more and you need to get back home.
This statement is absolutely not true if you're a full-timer or are vacation. The RVers that you hear of waiting months for repairs are ones that drop their RV off at their hometown facility.
While traveling and for full-timers, when a repair facility knows you need the fix 'right now', they will do all they can to expedite the repair. They will let you spend a night or couple in your motorhome at their facility, most often with electric hookup. If you buy new and have a warranty, that warranty is good no matter where you are.
Even for regular maintenance or non-emergency repair while you're traveling, just call the service place and set up an appointment time. Let them know you're traveling. They will order parts and have them ready when you show up.
We've never had to spend more than a night at a facility. It's no big deal. During the day while they're working on it we'd pack a few things and do some siteseeing, shopping, perhaps take in a movie or just go to a park with a book and relax. This is the way full-timers handle it. If it's your home or you're on vacation, they are not going to tell you it'll take months for repair or maintenance issues.
