Been trying to sell the house for about a year, so that DW and I can go full timing in the motorhome. Have had a couple of offers, but seems like there is always some reason they fall thru. We have a somewhat different home in that it is in a normal subdivision, is a normal ( but nice) home just happens to have a full motorhome garage attached. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of where to list this. I have had it listed with local broker and I think she is trying to sell it as a normal house and the garage is more of a problem than asset. We will be changing brokers at end of listing, but I might try some different advertising if anyone knows of decent sites to give a try. We are not in a motorhome community, the garage blends very nicely with home and landscape, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Would love to be full time by May.Must be my night for posting questions. Thanks
I had the same delema with my home. First when I built it I had it designed to match the house and NOT look like a MH storage and/or barn that it was. This was a plus.
I found advertising it as a "home for buyers to have ample room to store their 'toys'. Boats, cars, etc. Don't pigeon hole it to just a motor home.
I ALSO found that if you have a unique home YOU the seller have to do the advertising or find a dang real estate agent that will do as YOU tell them to. Remember they are making a HUGE commission on selling your house and 'you' are 'their' boss. Don't let them run the show or in most cases merely list it on MLS and nothing more. :R
Put your house for sale on EVERY single free website you can find. This netted me 80% of the showings came from my ads. Also the agent gives up part of their commission when you bring the buyer. Check that out with the broker not the salesperson because that discount does exsist.
Here are a few good places to advertise. Spend a couple of hours and post your house on all of them.
Escappes.com
http://www.vrbo.com/ ~ THIS IS THE ONE MOST RV'ers USE
http://www.floridavacations.com
http://www.trails.com
http://www.vacationrentals.com
www.owners.com
www.fsbo.com
www.forsalebyowner.com
.........and surprisingly THE best place was Craigslist. YUP! Craigslist lit up my phone and email box with buyers. List it as sale by owner and if you get a buyer you can always enlist an agent to draw up contracts for you. Good Luck!!
