The original Batwing antenna is still usable even with the switch over to digital TV but it will perform a bit better if you add a Wingman. Most of the digital programming moved from VHF, channels 2-13, to UHF, channels 14-83. Problem is the Batwing is optimized for VHF. The Wingman fixes this.
Ensure the coax connection at the antenna is clean with no corrosion which will degrade performance. Also the Batwing is a bit directional so you may need to move it around when changing stations. I changed to a Jack antenna rather than adding the Wingman. Not a big improvement but the jack is a bit less directional which means less re-aiming.
Concerning the sat dish, need more info such as make and model. Could be something as simple as the power fuse is blown. One thing though the receiver must have a direct connection to the dish. No splitters or such in the line or it won't work. Also it has to have a clear line of sight to the satellites.
