Before the Jack vs. Batwing debate gets out of hand again, I am the only one here that's ever done real testing of any of them and the results are elsewhere on this forum. The Batwing is by far the best antenna on the RV market... period..
IF a Jack performs better than a Batwing, then the Batwing is broken.
Satellite is a completely different subject and not at all related, but if you have neighbors that are receiving OTA channels and you are not, then you need to look at the power supply feeding the antenna and make sure it has power, after that, that there are no broken or corroded connectors on the way up to the antenna. IF, after all that the antenna still doesn't work then you get to decide if you want to replace it with a Jack or Batwing, and thats a performance question.
BTW- Very soon there are LOTS of TV stations that will reappear on VHF, and one thing that the Jack is exceptionally poor at performance-wise is anything VHF. It simply wasn't built for it
