TV UPGRADE QUESTIONS

I am a newbie. Purchased a 2007 Mandalay 40H earlier this year. My question is, all my TVs are dated and don't have any of the new technology of newer TVs. Want to upgrade, but want to know if you can buy regular smart TVs that you buy for your house that run on 110 volt or do I need to buy the ones that are specifically for RVs that run on 12/24 volt DC? There is a significant difference in pricing between the 2. I can get a 40" smart TV that works on 110volt for $150 but the 12/24volt DC TVs of the same size are in the $400 range. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Your MH came with an LCD TV that is 110 volt, not 12 volt.

As i said originally, any smart TV from Walmart will do.

  • I have the similar coach and have 110V outlet behind the TV, it is a standard outlet like at your home.  If you did have 12V system, it would likely be a round plug in, similar to your car.  I upgraded both my TV's to smart tv's bought at Best Buy.

Any TV will not do. To the OP, since your coach is almost 20 years old there is a good chance your TVs are 12V. You'd have to measure the voltage at the outlet. If the outlet has 12V you could re-wire it to a 120V circuit providing the wiring is up to snuff or if a 120V outlet is close enough you could run an extension cord.

How do I check the voltage at the outlet?I know the outlet is your standard outlet like at your house. The outside entertainment center TV is plugged into one too and I am able to plug in my big fan in it and it works, which is suppose to work on a 110v power supply.
