Can only speak as to how we arrange it. we have a 24ft C with no fixed bed. It is two of us and a dog. I sleep up top, DW on the dinette which breaks down in seconds.
We like it this way, she can read, or stay up later etc. Next biggest thing with a fixed bed is a 26. Which is a corner bed, and pretty miserable in my opinion.
As a married couple, one may consider if they need to sleep in the same bed while camping. If the answer is no, then that opens up more options.
I will trade no fixed bed, for a shorted RV, every time. But that is just me
