I sleep almost exclusively in the overhead. The rest of my family doesn't like it because they feel it is claustrophobic. I think the advice given for both of you to crawl in one and check it out yourself is sound advice. It may be crawling up and down that ladder is more than you bargained for. Let whoever takes the most bathroom breaks sleep on the outside.
