My hubby is also a bigger guy and you need to get up there with your wife and roll around a bit. For various reasons it may not work for you, too hot, too tight a fit, ability to climb up there and check the weight allowance. Hubby said he could not stand to sleep there alone, never mind me beside him.
Just like buying a mattress, test it out. Get up there for at least 10 minutes. You may feel silly but it is better to feel silly than spending money you regret.
