I also suggest you two try the overhead bed at a dealer. Best if nighttime potty breaks are minimal especially for the forward partner. Some people just don't like it up there-too claustrophobic. Good to have a fallback option (Jackknife sofa etc) in case at some point you can't get to the over cab bed.
I have no issue with the comfort of the bed-use it all the time. With a mattress topper it is great. Heat and cold hasn't been a problem. Mine has a vent over the cabover bed and Fantastic Fan set to exhaust elsewhere draws in a nice breeze. Far from noisy furnace blower which is good in a smaller rig.
