Please indulge me for a few, while I vent. I recently listed my motorhome for sale in two different forums. I especifically stated the price was not negotiable. I have had several callers. One offered me ten thousand less than what I am asking. Others asked about slides, size, mileage. All that information is listed. What is wrong with these people? Don't they read? All callers sounded like in their mid 20s. I expected to hear from older callers. It seems each caller was totally uninformed and did not even know which ad they were asking about. I had to pry it out of them. What is happening?
Buyers want to engage in conversation to help determine if you are legit owner/operator, selling for a friend, part time reseller, or a total scam. So try to indulge them a bit and talk up the best parts of the RV. That is basic salesmanship. Do you expect them to just click and buy?
As for negotiating on the phone... I tell them NO. Come see it and we can talk but the price is a good value and very firm. Then engage some salesmanship.
