House batteries run lights,furnace,fantastic fan,inverter ( changes battery power to Alternating current to run microwave,tv,), gas detector,fridge brain etc.... Basically everything exept your rear airconditioner microwave. If it isn 't pluggerd into a 3 pronged outlet the it 's direct 12 volt current fromyour batteries. The house batteries are charged by the alternator while driving or the converter (changes alternating current (110 like in a real house) to direct current(like in a car) or solar panels. Generator starts from your house batteries so if house batteries get low gen will not start. Run the van a while andcthen start gen while van runs. When gen starts turn off van. It may take an hour or more to recharge this way that is why solar is nice. Driving is best way to recharge. Hope this helps.
