The base is not open, flat plate bolts to floor, the are openings for hoses and what not.
That's one reason I'm keeping the old seat, the new one is coming with me when and if we sell. I did shop some yards and most were pretty beat up, the ones that weren't had some high prices.
The pictures make this seat seem as bulky as the flex steals. Its definetly not. Huggs you pretty good.
