I have long steel valve stems installed and then installed the 3 or 4 inch steel extensions that camp world carries. for the aluminums they installed some 45 deg ones that I added 90 deg extensions to. I did use locktite to keep them from loosening. 4500+ miles no issues this summer. I also use the electronic pressure gauge to check them with and they did not fluctuate more than 1-2 psi the trip. Big loss was from a screw in one of the outer rears. I can now reach the inners for checking without having to be a contortionist to get at the stems.
I got the stems from discount when they installed the new tires.
