Van conversion assistance

Seeking references for a company that can convert a 3/4 ton ford or chevy van into a Class B self-contained motor home. Location preference is southern/central CA or AZ/NV area. Thanks kindly.
  • I found and bought a new 2013 pleasure way lexor sitting on a dealer lot only 3.5 hours from my house in January. I purchased it for less then what 2-4 year old used models were being sold for. So there are deals to be found.

Sportsmobile does van conversions from a variety of vans. They have a shop in Fresno, CA. Pretty well know in the "B" community. Do a search here and see what peoples experiences have been.

Gotta agree with this suggestion, but I'm biased since I own one. There's also Van Specialties but they're up in Oregon.

I was checking out Van Specialties, their website is pretty good, and they have pictures of a new 2015 Ford Transit, that has only been out a few months.

Good luck with your selection. It is probably less expensive to buy a used class B than to design one. Or find one at a dealership, they might be trying to get rid of a 2013 or 2014 that did not sell well.

Many are trying to go to the Sprinter chassis, and now the 2015 Transit van that will be more powerful with the 3.5L V6 and get good mileage, so the older models built on the Ford E-350 chassis might sell for less. But the newer models will use less fuel.

    Good luck!

    Fred.

  • you may do better to find a "manufactured" B.

for one standardization if you have any trouble..electrical ( 120 and 12 volt), plumbing, gas and appliances will all be a known quantity.
