View year and towing

Opinion on buying a 8 or 9 year old View or equivalent needed.

Like to hear from anyone with a View or equivalent that is towing.

What model motorhome and what are you towing?

Thanks

Nick

  • I have an 08 View 24J that I purchased used last year. After much research, asking anyone who would listen and endless hand-wringing, I decided to flat tow a manual Mini Cooper.

Mini does not recommend towing but my research showed that it was do-able with the View. And my Mini was purchased used, so I wasn't too concerned about Mini's warranty being voided should tow-related problems occur, which did not happen.

About 3,000 miles of towing under the Mini's belt and I couldn't be happier with my adorable combo. The View is great to drive, tows efficiently and the Mini is a dream to tow and an absolute kick to drive!

    Tow on!
  • The 08 View is on an 07 Sprinter, which was the first 6 cylinder. However, Winnebago did not upgrade their frame extensions, which are rated at 3,500 pounds. Their 09 models, on 08 Sprinters, are rated to tow 5k. Some other manufacturers may have 08's with 5k tow capacity. Check carefully. Salesmen often don't have a clue.
