Sounds like you have your answer and I'd go for the heavier W24 if it was me. Also the W24 was never involved in the infamous brake recall and have different brand calipers. The 8.1 engine, coupled with the 6 speed Allison transmission is quite a combo and will pull most anything anywhere with no ill effects.
