According to the first article, he also has a deal with Nike, plus he has a yearly salary that is adding to his portfolio. He'll be in great shape when he retires, voluntarily or otherwise.

The $2,000,000 sign-on bonus that Norris received should conservatively make about $8,000 a month. So, his nest egg is still growing even with the small allowance. He'll most likely have a lot of future income if no injuries.

My neighbor lived on $800 a month and he drank alot. He needed a better car to get to the Dr and some teeth and couldnt afford to, so i bought his place and let him live there until he died. He died 2 years after i bought his place and he still had money left over.

He most likely doesn't have credit card debt, he's not in the practice of buying for the sake of having, he doesn't have utility bills or mortgage/rent.

So, that $800 per month is for his auto insurance, gas, propane, cell phone and food/toiletries. Figure his monthly expenses are around:

$75 for insurance
$60 cell phone
$30 propane (probably used for cooking only)

That leaves him $635 for food/toiletries and gas each month. And in the game season, he's not roaming around in his van, so he's not spending on gas and propane each month - I suspect he hangs onto the excess during that time to provide a bit extra in his off months.

He's simply taken out everything but the necessities. And when he gets injured and has to retire at 35, he won't be hocking Nike on TV.

Definitely. 1 weeks national forest. 1 night CG with hookups. Do all dumps. Fill tanks. Recharge. Back to national forest. Thrift store. Bent & dent food stores. Lots of great rice & beans recipes. Solar for supplemental. Have lots of fun enjoying nature, campfires, hikes. I DO believe I COULD do it on half and that's saving a bit of $ each month for parts/repairs. Not saying I'd want to, but just saying I could if I was by myself. With family forget it.

$1500, I'd change my tune (even with family).

Full time 2 nights national forest, 1 night CG. All the rest of the strategy the same.

IMO the "economy" in the USA (and other countries) is based on people spending their money. Not that it's going to happen, but if everyone did the same thing as this Walmart Dude, Walmart AND the "economy" would collapse.
Wasn't money invented for spending it? Anyway, just make sure you have enough. I know I don't...:B
