I have had two 310 HP V10, 35 foot Class A motor homes, and now I have a 39 foot diesel pusher.
On flat ground the V10 would have easily outrun the diesel I have now, even pulling my toad. I have not yet traveled in mountains with this diesel, so I'm hoping I'll see the benefit of the diesel when I do go into the mountains. But I had no trouble in mountains with the V10s that we had.
The diesel does provide a quiet, smooth ride, but other than that I see no real advantage. It is much more complex and costs more to maintain.
Considering the costs involved, although I do like my diesel, I'll probably buy another gasser next time.
