Water filler overflow tubes
Hey all,
We got our new (to us) 1994 Newmar motorhome back home for the first time this weekend. Everything seems to be working great on it. However, we did notice one oddity that I'm hoping someone can clarify and/or help with.
We tend to do pretty much all dry camping, so of course we want to pack in as much water as possible. Our fresh tank seems to have 4 (yes, 4!) overflow/vent tubes. There's a set on each side of the tank, driver and passenger. Each side has 2 hoses. One is a larger, maybe 1.5" green and white coiled tube which goes out and then goes through a hole in the storage bay to drain below the unit onto the ground. The second one is a clear tube, maybe 0.5" that comes out and would drain right into the storage bay(!?). Both are coming out of the top of the tank, and near as I can tell serve a double purpose of venting while filling, and preventing overfilling. However, even if I'm careful in filling full, but not overfilling, I'm worried that while driving, the sloshing will make water spill over the top and into the cargo bays.
Does anyone have a similar setup and any advise? Or am I looking at it all wrong? It seems like way overkill to have 4 vents/overflow lines.
Thanks
