I would use two 6' steps side to side and build a scaffold using a new 2X10x8 or two of these boards screwed together if over 200lbs. I'd position it 6" away from the tip of the cab. This way you wouldn't have to lean too far over, compromising the stability of the scaffold. If stability is a concern, I would screw or mount the far side leg bottoms, or feet of the ladders each to a piece 2x6x4 laying it flat, extending the extra length of the boards away from the front of the rig. This will eleminate any tipping concerns. I built a setup like this year's ago when I rehabbed the cabover on my older 1st rig that suffered delamination from water damage.

I went to the dollar store and bought one of the sponge mops then I wrap the sponge in a terry towel and stand on a ladder to the side and put the wax on and change the towel and buff it off. Just make sure you get the cheapest made in china all plastic mop you can. You want it to be very light and you dont want any metal on it. You can cut off the fold over water wringer to lighten it even more. If you use something like Starbright fibreglass wax/polish it buffs off easily.
And make sure it has a relatively soft sponge when dry not one of those that have a rock on the end till it gets wet. But most of the cheap ones do have a soft cheap foam head.

I purchased a waterless wax wash kit that came with this pole. It is the best thing I have come across. Easy to use and not at all like the flimsy car wash poles at part stores.

The cleaner works great on the black streaks. I wash with water and then use the wax like a detailer spray. But have done the waterless thing. Watch the video on their site. Not part of the company, just a happy customer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just finished using the "hang over the edge from the roof" followed by the "stretch till you hurt from the ladder" methods. Looks ok.

I have a multi-fold ladder that makes into a 4' high scaffold. I put some 4" blocks under each side and straddle the hood. Basically same as two step ladders and walk board as previously mentioned.

I assume you are referring to not using a step ladder in it's opened configuration.
