I am reviving this old thread of mine because I have learned some stuff in these last few months as many of you predicted.
We were leaning towards a 36'er and have since come to the conclusion after reading posts and many of your opinions that size would probably fee a bit cramped for full timing and traveling the country. So we have now happily set our sites on a 40'er. Our favorites at the moment are the Newmar Ventana, Tiffin Phaeton, and Thor Tuscany. There are floor plans in each model that we both love.
As far as amenities I think our list is basically the same with some slight changes because of technology advances.
I like the Aqua-hot system and it's offered in all the rigs we like.
Stackable washer/drier is also on the list and they also see to be installing nicer units these days.
I like how they plumb the air conditioner in these rigs with ducts running both sides of the ceiling along the rig. One side return the other output. Seems to be a hell of a lot quieter than the units with the big return attached to the unit and bulging from the ceiling.
Love the 2 door over freezer residential all electric refrigerators. They are huge these days.
Still unsure of the bath and 1/2 options we like the layouts that feature these but trying to decide if we really need it or would rather have the storage space. I do like the rear full bath though for some reason. Seems to be more of a conventional bathroom feel and some of them are huge.
Basements have become larger with the new chassis construction. 2" higher in all these rigs.
No need for an oven, yes on the convection microwave
Stove is still up in the air don't know if I want induction stove top or propane. Most of the coaches we have chosen are propane free which I kinda of like. But some of the top end propane stove tops are really nice also. I love to cook and I imagine most of the main course will be done on the grill or my mini weber smoker so only sides will be done on the stove top.
Dishwasher has been nixed, as many said it's an easy clean-up and the storage is more important.
Fireplace is neither here nor there for me, a case can be made that when hooked up to non-metered sites its free heat on a chilly night just to take the edge off. And the storage it takes up is minimal. No strong feels one way or the other on this.
King size bed is a go for us love to stretch out and the bedroom designs are really functional these days even with the larger beds.
Love the 10kw generators the coaches are coming with now. Wife can run her hair drier and flat iron at the same time while I'm cooking toast lol.
Tv's and stereo systems are just crazy good now a days with I love.
One of the units has both driver and passenger seat with complete turn around capability and both are recliners. This really adds to the available good seating in the living room area for socializing and viewing the TV.
Side view camera's now integrated into the side view mirrors which gives excellent side viewing as far I could see.
That's just a few thoughts of what I'm excited about in these rigs.
