If you don't fix the water damage the water will always be inside and the whole thing will be soggy and rotten. I do use Eternabond generally, but I don't think it's great for temporary work.
Before I rebuilt my cab over (fall/Winter 2017) I had tried to use eternabond to keep things together and it failed. It works for water seal, but it has no structural support, especially in hot weather. In the heat it will stretch.
