"Tinstar"....That switch by the door controls a solenoid in your "run bay". The "run bay" is the bay under your driver's window. Inside that bay there should be a big black box, about 12" x 12" with a cover on it. Remove the cover and in the lower left is a large solenoid. Looks like the old Ford starter solenoids on the fender well. That solenoid is being opened and closed by that switch by the door. When it operates, it connects the two large battery terminals on that solenoid. Connect the two cables by bolting them together, eliminating the solenoid and see if that resolves your issue. If it does, just leave them connected that way, unless you have some need for that switch at the door. The switch is of really no value and is occasionally switched off by someone bumping into it and causing issues.
