1. NONE of you that have posted know anything about what Technicians make and how that translates to what the Hourly Labor rate that is posted
2. I WILL state that I know of NO RV Tech (even a novice/trainee) that makes LESS than $10 per hour.
3. Just like in ALL professions, there are Idiots and STARS.
4. There is a BIG difference between needing CHASSIS work done and RV Coach work done. NO chassis mechanic will be qualified to do RV work and NO RV Technician will be qualified to do most chassis work. That said, I AM qualified MORE than most Chassis Mechanics to work on Jack systems and RV Dash AC systems.
5. I would NEVER take my RV in to a Chassis shop for RV Coach work unless they stated they had trained RV Technicians that ONLY work on the RV Coach systems, not both Chassis and Coach.
6. Last, the RV systems have changed dramatically in the past 20 years, and keeping current is extremely difficult for even Trained Technicians. The best result for repair is to go to a Facility that sells and services your particular Brand. Going to an Independent facility with a unit less than 10 years old just makes a first rate repair harder to get and WILL cost more, because they may have to spend more time on the repair since they are not familiar with the RV.
