http://www.harborfreight.com/12-ton-steel-jack-stands-61599.html - drwwicksExplorerI also use wood ramps, 2x12 stacked 4 high, 4' for the bottom layer, and angle cut where I drive on them. I made 6 identical and that gets the coach up 6". When I adjusted the air suspension I needed to make sure there was plenty of room to scoot under with air dumped. Gives plenty of room for that job, lubing, and other "under coach" chores.
I'm on the road on the way to AK and can't take pictures of them. - Tom_BarbExplorerMy coach has air ride, when the air supporting that system is depleted there is only about 6 inches under the coach. If I must get under the coach it will be up on two thicknesses of 12X12X24 beams, chocked with the air brake system depleted so the rear axel is locked.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIA good friend's husband died when the jack slipped and crushed him. Be careful out there!
- MrWizardModeratorI can go under there without lifting anything
But if I want more Clearance to move I use the hyd levelers
Even if they gave out, I would have room to crawl out, with out being pinned
The tires stay on the ground, when I'm under there
Which isn't very often, there not much under there i can work on - gswcgiExplorerA technician!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone use ramps made of solid wood? I know Redlands RV uses them, and seem to work well. Is it ok to use a ramp that supports just one of the tires on the rear dual's or could you over stress the one tire?
I generally only raise the front by driving on the ramps I made from wood. Once I had to raise the back but only on one side so I used the two ramps I have. One under each tire of the dual's on that side. - JumboJetExplorer

Yes, I made 6 out 8" x 8" material.
I never use less than 4 on the rear, or less than 2 on the front.
I have never used all 6 at one time, but could. I chock the wheels that are not "ramped" when using them. - CharlesinGAExplorerJack stands are rated in PAIRS, thus a 6 ton stand is at best, only 3 ton, but when used as a pair, they will support 6 ton. This is the industry standard way of rating them.
Charles - ferndaleflyerExplorer IIII bought 2x8s from Lowes and cut them about 4ft long and cut that in 1/2 at a real sharp angle and bingo, 2 solid ramps. Holds up the rear of the DP with 1 under 1 wheel on each side.
