If you're going to go the tow dolly route, I highly recommend you consider the EZE tow dolly.
You just can't beat this dolly, IMO:
- Weighs considerably less than most other models (only 400 lbs), making it easier to move around than most other models. Yet, still can handle up to 5000 lbs of vehicle.
- Separate, detached ramps so you never have to worry about a ramp coming up and hitting the bottom of your car like others are known to do.
- Low profile and detached ramps makes it easy to stow almost entire thing under back of your MH when camping (stowing this dolly is never an issue). It actually uses LESS space behind the MH than the folding KarKaddy SS that costs twice as much.
- Comes with surge activated hydraulic DISC brakes, not drum. Much better brakes, and few other dollies even offer that.
- Low profile design of tires, fenders insures you can turn VERY sharp turns, and never have to worry about hitting fender of your car (I know 'cause I tried it - could turn right up to the point front of toad was about to make contact with back of MH, but fenders of toad did not touch the dolly).
- Costs almost half what you'd pay for many other models, and they'll ship them anywhere in the U.S. for you.
This dolly pretty much eliminates some of the main 'cons' people associate with dollies - its very easy to move around, and most of it easily stows under the back of your MH, due to its low ground clearance.
When we towed with a dolly, we used one of these. We now tow 4 down and prefer that method (as I believe most do). However, if we ever do go back to dolly towing, it will be with an Acme EZE tow dolly. I won't own any other dolly.
