What happened to my mirror, Why, and what's the fix?

I learned the #1 reason why the Velvac mirror arms break. Kids hang on them. I learned this when displaying my rig at an auto show type of event. I caught a kid about to hang from it. Needless to say from that moment forth, we fold the arms in when stopped for any length of time in public places like restaurants, rest areas, shopping centers etc. We even fold them in at our camp sites, but just to get them out of our way.
